Joan and Annette

J

We went shopping, bought shoes

Dresses for parties and dos

Had lunch, had laughs

We didn’t do things by half

Weekends away, happy days

Nights in, drinking wine

Always having fun times

Then you both got sick

You were scared at first

Then accepting of your illnesses

Hospital trips, needles and drips

Became part of your lives

Still we had happy days

When we tried to forget

The beast inside

Eating you up

We laughed, we cried

Then, you died

When you were gone

I found it hard to carry on

Now, when I think of you

I remember the things that we used to do

I remember places we used to go

It all seems so long ago

Sometimes it feels like…

You were just someone that I used to know   😦

  1. Very touching and beautiful poem. Made me feel sad for all the people close to me who I have lost.
