Panic attack

P

blowing into paper bag

Heart hammering in my chest

I take a breath and do my best

To look as normal as I can

With flushing face and sweaty palm

Count to ten, hope no one sees

My shaking hands and wobbly knees

Try to smile, look nonchalant

While feeling as if I’m going to faint

I see my house ten feet away

It might as well be 100K

My head is spinning, I’m feeling dizzy

Getting further into a tizzy

Almost there, just a few steps more

In front of me, my own front door

I feel relief wash over me

As I root in my pocket for my key

My face it tingles, my hands are numb

My heart is beating like a drum

I stumble inside, home at last

My heart still beating twice as fast

I place the paper bag over my mouth

Try to breath slowly, in and out.

I feel my colour coming back

The end of another panic attack.   🙂

I am glad I do not suffer from this. I do know someone who does and she is a total mess sometimes. I think some of it feeds on itself, but for her it is a frightening experience.

  5. Already on P? What? Are you prescheduling all your posts? (uh oh, maybe I need to stop hopping and start bloggin!) I’m having a Panic Attack too now, just kidding.
